Present in all 26 States and the Federal District, the State Federations of Industry comprise over one thousand associated employers unions and 196 thousand companies.

Within their respective geographic areas the federations unite the industrial class at regional level and are represented at national level by the CNI. They are bodies that represent and orientate the class unions and defend sectoral interests in their states. Their main actions are concentrated on the formulation of state policies capable of improving the business environment and on capacity building and providing support services for the management of companies and unions.

Through the Industry System the State Federations also offer a series of supporting activities to industries, their workers and workers' families. Their overall goal is the economic growth of their states and consequently of the country as a whole.

The Federations of Industry of the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Federal District and Rio Grande do Sul were the founders of the CNI in 1938. Two years later the Federation of Industries of the State of Pernambuco became an affiliate and 1946 it was the turn of the Federation of Industries of the state of Paraná. Below you can see the date of affiliation of each one of the State Federations of Industry now Associated to the CNI.
