Given the political crisis prompted by denunciations of corruption, the business sector presented a document directed at the President of the Republic Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and all other authorities of the Executive, Judicial and Legislative Branches. In this document, projects, initiatives and proposals to reduce the impact of the political crisis on the Brazilian economy are set out, ensuring a stable environment for business.
Stressing the importance of economic stability, entrepreneurs highlighted the need for a rigorous investigation of the irregularities - emphasizing, however, that this should not be capable of leading Brazil to a state of paralysis. The political crisis should be viewed as an opportunity for progress, capable of contributing to the consolidation of democracy.
In the same document, business confederations point out the need for actions that stimulate investments and help reduce the real interest rates, including a more profound fiscal adjustment. The relevant proposals were classified according to six areas, namely:
• Infrastructure;
• Taxation system;
• Regulatory Environment;
• State Reform and Administration;
• Innovation;
• Political System.
