An increasingly relevant requirement
Being socially responsible means taking on an active role in the development of society. In alignment with that principle, industry has strengthened its commitment to ethics, sustainable development and social well-being. CNI is well aware of its leadership role and its presence is clear in this scenario.
In May 2005, CNI created the Standing Committee on Social Responsibility (Cores) in order to guide the Industry System´s actions in this field. Cores also aims at contributing towards the formulation of public policies that promote the social well-being of the population and the creation of laws that stimulate investments in social projects.
With the aim of collaborating towards an understanding of the theme and fostering a culture of social responsibility among companies, CNI, by means of the Cores, launched , in 2006, the publication “Corporate Social Responsibility” . The document demystifies the matter and sets out important guidelines for industries that wish to intensify their actions in this field.
Also in 2006, CNI began to support the “Constructing a Nation Award”. This Award is an acknowledgment offered to the best citizenship projects carried out by students and teachers in their communities throughout the year. From this partnership, established with Instituto Cidadania - the institute which originally created the project - the goal is to enable the participation of all Brazilian states.
Furthermore, CNI supports programs such as the Business Action for Citizenship created in 1999 in partnership with Kellog Foundation, which seeks the enhancement of Corporate Social Responsibility. |
