Incentives for new artists

CNI SESI Marcantonio Vilaça Plastic Arts Award aims at fostering and stimulating people´s access to contemporary art. Every two years, five artists are selected to receive the support of a critic or a curator – who will follow his or her evolution – and an R$ 30,000 working grant.

During the first year, art critics guide and assist the award winners in the production of their works. In the second year, a travelling exhibition is organized in six state capitals aiming at presenting the works, and brings together art and industrial workers, as well as the public at large. In addition to encouraging the creativity and development of new artists, the award contributes towards enhancing Brazilian culture and carrying forward the work of Art gallery curator Marcantonio Vilaça – who dedicated his life to stimulating new talents.
